Pregnancy Week 30

Baby’s Growth During the 30th Week of Pregnancy

In week 30, your baby is weighing in at about 3 pounds and the amniotic fluid that surrounds baby is down to a pint and a half. As the weeks continue on and your baby gets closer to entering the world, the volume of amniotic fluid will decrease as baby gets bigger.

Your baby’s eyesight is continuing to develop though it’s not very sharp, even after baby is born. When your baby is born, the eyes will stay closed most of the them but when they do open, your baby will have only about a 20/400 vision which means only objects a few inches away from the face will be seen. (A normal adult’s vision is 20/20).

Body Changes in the 30th Week of Pregnancy

If you’re having trouble sleeping at night, chances are good that you’re feeling tired during the day. With sleeplessness and weight gain you may also be feeling a little more clumsy than normal which is common since your center of gravity has shifted. Additionally, because of hormonal changes your ligaments are more relaxed so your joints are looser which may also contribute to your balance being off a bit.

The combination of uncomfortable symptoms and hormonal changes may start to result in mood swings you may have experienced early in your pregnancy. While it’s normal to have up and down feelings, feel concerned about what is to come or worry, if you cannot shake your moods or feelings of being blue, talk to your doctor or midwife. You may be among the 1 in 10 expectant women who battle depression during pregnancy.
