How do I know if I’m pregnant?
The best way to determine pregnancy is to take a pregnancy test. Home pregnancy test kits are available over-the-counter and are considered highly accurate. A health care provider can also perform a pregnancy test at their office.
In the 1970s, researchers found that high levels of the hormone human chorionic gandatropin (hCG) in the urine were associated with pregnancy. This research led to the development of the home pregnancy test that is commercially available today.
If you believe that you are pregnant or have a positive home pregnancy test, see a health care provider.
